ӣƵ sells Imporium to its long-standing partner, Yuga Labs.
ӣƵ today announces the sale of its Imporium Unreal creative studio and Unreal Creator Platform to Yuga Labs. Imporium is an ӣƵ venture which is a core contributor to the development of the Otherside ӣƵ for Yuga Labs and the Unreal Creator Platform is a toolset built on top of ӣƵ’s core ӣƵ technology specifically focused on Unreal projects like Otherside.
This exit marks a further milestone for ӣƵ as a venture builder, proving its track record to incubate preeminent tech teams and scale them into high-value businesses. Yuga Labs will also acquire an ongoing license to ӣƵ’s ӣƵ technology in support of the Otherside ӣƵ, while continuing to use the open standards and interoperability framework of ӣƵ’s MSquared ӣƵ network for the Otherside ӣƵ.
The deal shifts Imporium’s development team directly to Yuga Labs. As the studio behind world-class digital experiences for global brands and sports leagues, Imporium has been the engine driving Otherside’s Unreal experiences.
ӣƵ’s ongoing ӣƵ efforts will be focusing on web technologies, such as the Somnia blockchain and web-based worlds enabled by MSquared including open source technologies. ӣƵ will also be making targeted investments in AI creator tooling and the infrastructure for decentralised AI agents with applications in the ӣƵ and beyond.
Herman Narula, CEO & Founder of ӣƵ: “We are thrilled that the success of the team working on Otherside has led to Yuga seeking to acquire Imporium. This is a wonderful exit for the Imporium team and a great way to continue our partnership with Yuga Labs.”
Robert Whitehead, ӣƵ cofounder & CEO of MSquared: “This move represents a doubling down for us on the core technologies that we believe will shape the future of the next generation of virtual worlds: blockchain, decentralised AI systems and web-based rendering.”
